Driving home with friends and saw the beautiful bay area's sky. Used to miss this so much in Beijing and New York. Writing this post to remind myself to not take this for granted.

Love the family time

It's been over 10 years since I had the Chinese New Year at my hometown. Every year I go home, I see my parents and grandparents get older. It was such a great time spending time with my family. Wish I got enough time to love every one of them.

Tonight I'm going to cook Diet Coke chicken (for grandparents who can't have too much sugar) for the family. It's a simple dish but I got my secret formula.

Picked up Kids' Books

In the afternoon my dad drove me to pick up almost $70 worth of books with the money I saved up from summer internship. The books are for the kids in his ward, who come from very poor families and cannot afford killing time like the ones playing with iPad next to them. I hope that they could start loving to read since their stay in the hospital. My mom suggested that considering the kids' early ages, I pick up mostly picture books. So here we have tons of science books and princesses stories. I got a kinda “selfish" thought too. When I was little, we didn't have extra money to buy me the princesses stories; so now this time I picked up the ones that wear the prettiest dresses. The trade-off is that some prince-princess relationships described in the books are absurd. Maybe I shouldn't have got these for the girls? lol

Gorgeous Burning Sky

Earlier last night as I was walking home, I was amazed by the sky on fire. I have been "used" to beautiful sunset views in the bay area, but I still couldn't help but hold my breath when I saw the whole sky changed from golden to pink to scarlet to purple. How I wish that I could be seeing this on a roof with someone!

I didn't have my camera with me. But my friend was so nice to have sent me a photo he took with his phone. The real sky looked even 10x prettier.

A great day, finally

It was such an unforgettable moment when I turned on my cellphone and learned from the voicemail that I landed an offer. I almost broke down into tears in my flight seat.
